Happy Birthday America! Let's Celebrate with Links

I have to admit - even with humidity and mosquitoes - I love the 4th of July in DC.

This year I found a new place with a friend to watch the big fireworks display in DC - in Meridian Hill Park. You have to work for the view - that's one hell of a hill, but the view was great.

Not one for fireworks? Feel like hiding under the bed with the dog? FireplaceTV may be just your thing - your choice of several fires to choose from - streamed to your computer screen. If nothing else, it beats your flying toasters screen saver.

Want something a bit more artistic for your desktop? Try these pictures - be sure to scroll down, they get more interesting as the page goes on. This image is my favorite, and reminds me of an early scene in Close Encounter of the Third Kind - a ship, locked into a desert land.

Also discovered recently, PostSecret. PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail-in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. Totally fascinating.

I hope you enjoy these. I've found some great new sites through a FireFox plug-in called StumbleUpon [what is it with everyone stickingwordstogether lately?]. It takes into consideration your likes and dislikes and suggests new websites for you to visit. You can rate them to increase positive results.
